The Purple Heart Medal is awarded to military personnel for being wounded or killed in any action against an enemy of the United States or as a result of an act of any such enemy or opposing armed forces.
The Military Order of the Purple Heart is designated as a social and recreational non-profit organization composed of combat veterans who have sacrificed in blood, for the good our Country. Bound together by combat and common experience in uncommon times, the MOPH is an association of American fighting men, Chapter 72 and those who support us, pledge upon our Honor to preserve and pass on the history, traditions, legends, and lure of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. We are American warriors, respected and admired by friends, cherished by family members, envied and copied by other warriors, feared and dreaed by our enemies. The Military Order of the Purple Heart shall forever remain to be the cornerstone and protector of our Country.
In our quest for comaradeie, Chapter 72 assists and supports veterans, active duty soldiers, and dependents of the MOPH. We are a charitable orgaization maintaining financial records and as possble as we can, provide and distribute to other veterans and their families, financial assistance as we are able, and with any tangible matters we can offer. We continuously offer encouragement and support within our means. As such, it is our duty to offer legislative support to necessary initiaives as needed.
Chapter 72 is the northernmost Chapter of The Militay Order of Purple Heart, Oregon Department. Servicing the greater Portland Metro area we have over 200 lifetime members from as far South a Grand Ronde, Oregon and as far North as La Center, Washington. The Chapter General Meetings are open to the public, are generally conducted the 2nd Sunday of each month, opening at 2:00 P.M. unless conflicting with a holiday. We do not mee in June due to the Department of Oregon State Convention and also in August due to the National Convention. Both Convention's locations change each year.
